Making a Difference - Careers Programme (ASPIRE,ENGAGE,ACHIEVE)

Here at Campion we have devised a Careers Plan that is reflective of the community its serves with the aim to raise the career aspiration of all our students. Our careers program is based on theories and models of guidance.  The aim of our careers plan is to support our vision which is to raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes and encourage pupils to consider a wide range of career opportunities and experiences that are available to them. Through the delivery of careers education and guidance, our pupils are encouraged to make the most of their talents, skills and attributes to enable them to make informed decisions when considering the options of Employment, Further Education, Higher Education and beyond. We postulate that each student departs from campion school fully equipped with the necessary tools matching their career needs, attributes and intelligence. Our careers programme is modelled around current best-practice for careers guidance and the Gatsby Benchmarks developed by the Gatsby Foundation have been embedded into our careers work (see our Entitlement Statement for further information). We work closely in conjunction with the Careers & Enterprise Company’s Enterprise Adviser network and are a Careers Development Institute Affiliate School. Above all we value strong partnerships to improve our consistent programme of careers education, including working with local employers and colleges. At the heart of our careers programme is opportunity to engage regularly with employers to learn from them about careers, employment and the skills that are valued in the workplace. Incorporating the characteristics of (Watts, 1977) Dots model, our students have the ability to identify and articulate motivations, skills and personality which is based on one of the four components of his framework self-awareness, Opportunity Awareness, Decision Making and Transition Learning from understanding “the self, opportunities and considered choices”. Our learners are supported through the various stages of their career’s development using work-related activities to enable them to make informed decisions about their career goals and progression. We promote community engagement to our students to ensure that they become active members of the community and free from social exclusion.
